Tramitichromis brevis "Chidunga"

Tramitichromis brevis can be found in entire Lake Malawi. This species is living in sandy, muddy environments in the neighbourhood of rocks. This variant can be found near Chidunga Rocks.

In the lake the males of these species can grow to 14 cm, in the aquarium however they can grow taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 18 cm, females grow to about 13 cm.

You can best keep this species with multiple females in a large tank with a lot of swimming space. They are quiet peaceful inhabitants and it`s best not keeping them together with mbunas.

In the lake they are mainly feeding themselves with worms and other invertebrates which they can find in the muddy bottoms. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix.
